How Much Does Virtual Try-On Cost? 2026 Pricing Compared

Sajad BaharvandiSeptember 27, 20268 min read

Most virtual try-on vendors don't want you to know what they cost until you've sat through a demo. That makes a simple question — what should I budget for try-on? — surprisingly hard to answer.

So here are the actual numbers. I've pulled the published pricing for the main virtual try-on tools merchants compare, explained the different ways they charge (which matters more than the headline price), and worked through what a small, mid-size and large store would really pay.

Transparency: I run TryOn Virtual, one of the tools below. Every competitor price in this post comes from the vendor's own Shopify App Store listing or pricing page, checked on 27 September 2026. Prices change — always confirm on the vendor's page before you buy.

    The Short Answer

    • Free to start: several Shopify apps have a free tier, from 10 try-ons in total up to 25 sessions a month.
    • Small and mid-size stores: most try-on apps cost $15–$200 a month on Shopify.
    • Specialists: eyewear-only Fittingbox runs $59–$199 a month; Perfect Corp's makeup and eyewear app starts at $379 a month.
    • Enterprise SDKs: Banuba, and Perfect Corp's enterprise tier, are quote-only, typically billed yearly.

The headline price is only half the story. What you're charged per — try-on sessions, products, or monthly users — decides whether a tool stays cheap as you grow.

The Four Ways Virtual Try-On Is Priced

Before comparing numbers, check what each plan actually meters. The same monthly price can be a bargain for one store and expensive for another.

    1. Per try-on session. You pay for how often shoppers use try-on, and your catalog size doesn't matter. TryOn Virtual and most AI photo try-on apps work this way. Good for stores with big catalogs and moderate traffic.

    2. Per product (SKU). You pay for how many products have try-on enabled, however often they're used. Camweara and Perfect Corp's Shopify app work this way. Good for small catalogs with heavy traffic; expensive for large catalogs.

    3. Per product and per user. Fittingbox caps both active products and unique monthly users on each plan, so you can outgrow a plan in two directions.

    4. Custom quote. Enterprise SDKs price on monthly active users, platforms and features, usually with an annual contract. Expect a sales process before you see a number.

A quick rule: count your products and estimate your monthly try-ons first. Then pick the pricing model that grows slowest along the axis where your store is biggest.

Two notes on reading this table:

    • "Session" and "try-on" aren't always the same unit. A photo try-on app usually counts each generated image. A session-based plan counts a shopper's use of the try-on, which can include several looks. Compare what's included, not just the number.
    • Overage is where budgets break. TryOn Virtual charges $0.15 per extra session on Essentials and $0.05 on Growth and Scale; the free plan simply pauses at its limit, so you're never billed by surprise. The photo try-on apps above charge $0.10–$0.19 per extra try-on. Product-capped plans usually don't bill overage — they force an upgrade to the next tier instead.

What Would My Store Actually Pay?

Here are three typical stores and the cheapest plan on each tool that fits them. (Tools that can't serve the store's category are left out.)

    Small jewelry store: 60 products, ~120 try-ons a month

    • TryOn Virtual: Essentials, $15/mo — 150 sessions covers it, and the catalog size doesn't matter.
    • Camweara: Lite, $39/mo — fits the 70-product cap.
    • Perfect Corp, Fittingbox: not built for jewelry.

At this size a session-priced plan is usually the cheapest option by a wide margin, because you're not paying for products that rarely get tried on.

    Mid-size eyewear store: 200 frames, ~1,000 try-ons a month

    • TryOn Virtual: Growth, $49 for 500 sessions + 500 extra × $0.05 = $74/mo. Scale ($149, 5,000 sessions) becomes cheaper once you pass about 2,500 sessions a month.
    • Fittingbox: Gold, $199/mo — the only plan that fits 200 products.
    • Camweara: Starter, $90/mo — fits up to 300 frames; past that it jumps to Growth at $200.
    • Perfect Corp: Premium, $569/mo for up to 300 SKUs.

Eyewear is where pricing models diverge most. Here TryOn Virtual and Camweara land close together, but they grow differently: add 150 frames and Camweara moves to $200, while TryOn's price only moves if try-ons do. Frame catalogs tend to grow, so model your catalog a year from now, not today.

    Large fashion store: 2,000 products, ~3,000 try-ons a month

    • TryOn Virtual: Scale, $149/mo — 5,000 sessions, all 2,000 products included.
    • Camweara: Growth, $200/mo — fits the 3,000-product cap.
    • AI photo try-on apps: GenLook Pro is $99 for 1,000 try-ons, plus 2,000 extra × $0.10 = $299/mo. AI Frame Advanced covers 2,000 try-ons for $199.99, plus 1,000 extra × $0.12 = $320/mo.

For a big apparel catalog, per-try-on pricing adds up fast at volume. Compare the cost at your expected peak month, not your average.

The Costs That Aren't on the Pricing Page

3D models. Real-time AR for glasses and watches needs a 3D model of every product. Some vendors expect you to supply them, which usually means paying a 3D artist per model and waiting days or weeks. Others generate them for you. TryOn Virtual includes AI-built 3D models on every plan (3 on the free plan, up to 100 on Scale) and generates them from ordinary product photos. Here's how that works.

Developer time. A Shopify app installs in minutes. An SDK like Banuba's is a development project — budget engineering time on top of the licence.

Annual commitments. Enterprise tools are typically billed yearly. That's fine if try-on is proven for you and risky if you're still testing.

Categories you'll add later. If you sell glasses today and jewelry next year, an eyewear-only or beauty-only tool means buying a second product later. Check category coverage before you check price.

Is Virtual Try-On Worth the Money?

Try-on pays off when it moves shoppers who would otherwise hesitate, and when it prevents "it looked different on me" returns. The maths is simple: divide your monthly plan cost by your monthly try-on sessions to get a cost per session. Compare that with your average order value and your return cost.

At $49 for 500 sessions, that's about $0.10 a session. For a store selling $80 frames or $150 jewelry, one extra sale or one avoided return in every few hundred sessions covers the bill. Our ROI guide walks through measuring it properly, and our analytics guide covers what to track.

    Cheaper Alternatives to Perfect Corp

This is one of the most common pricing questions we see. Perfect Corp is excellent at makeup AR, and if cosmetics are your core business it's worth the price. But if you sell glasses, watches, jewelry, clothing or shoes, you're paying for a beauty engine you won't fully use:

    • For eyewear, TryOn Virtual's plans run $0–$149/mo against Perfect Corp's $379–$569/mo, and include AI-built 3D frames.
    • For apparel and shoes, Perfect Corp's rendering is limited. You need AI photo try-on, which it doesn't focus on.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does virtual try-on cost for a Shopify store? Most Shopify try-on apps cost $15–$200 a month, and several have a free tier to start. Specialist tools cost more: Fittingbox is $59–$199 a month for eyewear, and Perfect Corp's Shopify app starts at $379 a month.

Is there a free virtual try-on app? Yes. TryOn Virtual's Starter plan is free and includes 25 try-on sessions a month plus 3 AI-built 3D models. Several AI photo try-on apps offer 10 free try-ons, either per month or in total.

How much does Fittingbox cost? On Shopify, Fittingbox has three plans: Bronze at $59/mo (10 products, 500 users), Silver at $99/mo (50 products, 1,500 users) and Gold at $199/mo (200 products, 3,500 users). Each has a 14-day free trial. Pricing outside Shopify is by quote.

How much does Perfect Corp virtual try-on cost? Perfect Corp's YouCam app on Shopify costs $379/mo for up to 100 SKUs or $569/mo for up to 300 SKUs, each with a 14-day trial. Its Enterprise plan with unlimited SKUs is priced by quote.

Is per-product or per-session pricing better? Per-session pricing is usually cheaper for large catalogs, because you only pay when shoppers use try-on. Per-product pricing can be cheaper for a small catalog with very heavy traffic. Estimate both numbers for your store before choosing.

Do I need to pay for 3D models separately? It depends on the vendor. Live AR for glasses and watches needs a 3D model of each product. Some tools expect you to supply them; TryOn Virtual generates them from your product photos and includes a monthly allowance on every plan.

    The Bottom Line

Virtual try-on no longer needs an enterprise budget. For most Shopify stores the real decision isn't $15 versus $200 — it's which pricing model fits your catalog and traffic, and whether the tool covers every category you sell.

Start by counting your products, estimating monthly try-ons, and running your numbers through the table above. If you'd like to test before you commit, TryOn Virtual's free plan takes a few minutes to install on Shopify, with no credit card needed.
